Materion is seeking a Global Category Manager – MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations), to work in the Procurement organization. The Global Category Manager will report to the VP – Global Procurement and will be located in Mayfield Heights, OH. The Indirect MRO Global Category Manager is responsible for leading the strategic sourcing and procurement activities for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies and services at Materion. This role focuses on optimizing supplier relationships, managing contract negotiations, and implementing effective purchasing strategies that align with Materion's operational goals and cost-saving initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MRO procurement, supplier development, and category management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement: Define, manage, and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for indirect MRO supplies and services. Ensure alignment with Materion's operational objectives and cost-saving initiatives.
Supplier Development & Management: Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic supplier relationships to enhance performance, drive innovation, and achieve cost savings. Foster collaborative partnerships with key suppliers to ensure alignment with business needs.
Contract Negotiations: Lead the negotiation of complex contracts with MRO suppliers, ensuring that agreements meet Materion's specifications and operational requirements. Drive favorable terms and conditions that support the company's strategic initiatives.
Market Research & Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, pricing structures, and potential suppliers in the MRO space. Utilize data to inform sourcing decisions and supplier selection.
Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate supplier performance against established KPIs specific to MRO procurement. Implement performance improvement plans as necessary to ensure suppliers meet or exceed expectations.
Risk Management: Assist in the development and implementation of robust vendor risk assessment and mitigation strategies to minimize potential risks associated with MRO supplier relationships.
Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, operations, and engineering, to support internal purchasing needs and strategic supplier reviews. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on sourcing strategies and objectives.
Cost Modeling & Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and cost modeling specific to MRO procurement to support sourcing decisions. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and value enhancement across the supply chain.
KPI Tracking & Reporting: Participate in the tracking of global KPIs related to MRO sourcing effectiveness, supplier performance, and cost/value delivery. Review and implement additional KPIs as needed to enhance sourcing strategies.
Category Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of category strategies for MRO that achieve key objectives, including savings, process effectiveness, supplier consolidation, and improved visibility and control of expenditures.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
Proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier management, particularly in the MRO category.
Strong negotiation skills with a successful track record in contract negotiations specific to MRO supplies and services.
Excellent analytical and financial acumen, with experience in cost modeling and financial analysis related to MRO procurement.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Experience in developing and tracking KPIs related to MRO sourcing and supplier performance.
Strong understanding of risk management principles and vendor risk assessment strategies.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
