Forward Deployed AI Engineer - Delta (Palantir Foundry & AIP)
The FD Delta is the core builder within the Palantir Center of Excellence — the engine of active development, quality delivery, and technical standards adherence. Where the FD Partner owns the value outcome, the FD Delta owns the quality and velocity of what gets built. Working within pods, FD Deltas translate use case requirements into production-grade Palantir solutions on Foundry and AIP, moving rapidly while maintaining the engineering rigor that enables long-term sustainability.
This role is ideal for a hands-on, technically excellent engineer who thrives at the intersection of complex business domains and modern data platform development. FD Deltas are the primary technical voice in the pod and are expected to uphold CoE standards while pushing the boundaries of what Palantir's toolset can deliver.
This is a Forward Deployed role, so travel is expected. The range is between 10-30% (2-6 nights/month) on average, with some periods being higher and some periods being lower.
- Own active development of Palantir Foundry and AIP solutions across the full delivery lifecycle — from use case definition through prototype, and productionalization.
- Design and implement data pipelines using Foundry Pipeline Builder and Code Repositories; model insurance domain logic in the Ontology (objects, links, Action Types, Functions).
- Build operational applications in Workshop, OSDK, and Quiver with a focus on business KPIs and user experience.
- Develop and maintain AI agents using AIP Agent Studio, Logic, Evals, and Observability tooling.
- Maintain and enforce CoE technical standards — code quality, documentation, reusability, and architecture patterns — ensuring adherence across pod output.
- Collaborate with FD Partner on requirements and with FD Echo on deployment readiness, ensuring clean handoff at productionalization.
- Contribute to Base and Extended documentation artifacts (architecture docs, data science documentation) as required by use case type.
- Identify and escalate technical blockers, platform constraints, and quality risks through the appropriate CoE channels.
Required Skills & Competencies
Application Delivery Layer (Primary)
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and SQL — core languages for Foundry development
- Experience with Palantir Foundry (Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, Workshop, Ontology) — hands-on build experience preferred; strong full-stack engineers eager to learn are encouraged to apply
- Familiarity with AIP Agent Studio and agentic workflow patterns; understanding of RAG and human-in-the-loop model architectures
- Experience with event-driven architectures, API integrations, and cloud-native CI/CD pipelines
Platform & Governance (Supporting Depth)
- Understanding of solution architecture patterns — able to design approaches and engage with Enterprise Architecture on standards
- Working knowledge of data engineering best practices including pipeline design, data quality, and lineage
Experience
- 2–10+ years of experience building data-driven products and systems
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex business workflows into scalable technical solutions
- Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or similarly regulated industries is a plus
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related business field
- Optional: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Success Metrics & KPIs
- Delivery Velocity:
Drive use cases from prototype to production within defined milestone timelines - Standards Adherence:
Ensure a high percentage of deliverables meet CoE code quality, review, and documentation standards - Defect / Rework Rate:
Minimize post-handoff rework required by Forward-Deployed (FD) Echo and Platform teams - Technical Debt Management:
Reduce solutions flagged for long-term sustainability risks during production readiness reviews - Reusability Contribution:
Contribute reusable components, templates, and patterns to the CoE library to support scale and efficiency
Key Stakeholder Interactions
- FD Partner (Direction & Alignment):
Partner on requirements intake, priority alignment, and business value definition - FD Echo (Collaboration & Handoff):
Support deployment readiness reviews and ensure smooth transition to downstream teams - Platform Lead (Escalation & Guidance):
Collaborate on platform constraints, architectural decisions, and deployment approvals - Business Unit Teams (Support):
Gather requirements, clarify use cases, and facilitate UAT feedback loops - Palantir FD Team (Peer Collaboration):
Align on technical approaches, share best practices, and resolve escalated platform challenges - Enterprise Architecture (Consultation & Compliance):
Participate in architecture reviews to ensure alignment with enterprise standards for strategic initiatives
Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
