Job description
We are looking for a highly organised and driven Field Capacity, Fleet and Compliance Manager
to lead the optimisation of our field engineering workforce, ensuring maximum productivity, full
compliance, and an exceptional customer experience. This role plays a critical part in managing
field resource planning, fleet operations, and regulatory compliance across our UK Service
division.

You bring:
• Proven experience in resource planning, logistics, scheduling, and fleet management
environments
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations, including leasing, maintenance, compliance, and
vehicle lifecycle management
• Experience working with external fleet providers and third-party suppliers
• Strong knowledge of compliance, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience managing budgets, suppliers, contracts, and performance metrics
• A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
• The ability to lead, coach, and develop teams to deliver high performance
• Ideally, experience with planning and scheduling systems and working within a field service or
engineering environment
The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Customer Experience, this role is responsible for maximising the
utilisation of the field engineering workforce while ensuring compliance with all safety, legal,
and operational standards.
You will oversee a national fleet of approximately 280 vehicles, managing vehicle lifecycle,
supplier performance, compliance, and cost control, alongside workforce capacity and
downtime budgets. You will also ensure all engineers are fully trained, certified, and compliant
with industry regulations such as Gas Safe.
This is a key operational and strategic role with direct impact on customer satisfaction, cost
control, fleet efficiency, and service delivery performance.
Responsibilities:
Fleet Management
• Manage relationships with external fleet providers, including lease companies such as
Ayvens, VWFS, and Novuna, ensuring alignment to business standards, customer experience,
and budget requirements
• Ensure all vehicles are maintained and managed in line with legal, safety, and compliance
requirements
• Oversee the full vehicle lifecycle, from procurement and build (racking, signwriting) through to
renewal or de-fleet decisions
• Manage the van off-road process, minimising cost and operational downtime
• Coordinate and manage vehicle renewals, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder alignment
• Monitor fleet age profile and make informed decisions on lease extensions or replacements
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding of engineers and vehicles, including handovers, stock
checks, and effective reallocation of pooled vehicles
• Manage third-party suppliers for vehicle tracking, fuel cards, home charging points, and in
boot parts delivery, ensuring service standards are maintained and invoices are processed
correctly
• Ensure Fleet Coordinators actively monitor cost to serve and identify opportunities to
minimise operational impact and improve efficiency
Resource Management
• Ensure customer commitments and SLAs are consistently achieved
• Plan and allocate workforce capacity, including shifts, holidays, and leave
• Identify and deliver training requirements aligned to business and technology needs
• Manage recruitment planning in line with demand and headcount strategy
• Monitor and control downtime, absence, and productivity costs
• Support annual budgeting processes and resource forecasting
• Manage travel, accommodation, and training logistics within financial guidelines
• Analyse data to identify trends and implement performance improvements
Compliance
• Ensure full compliance across field operations and escalate risks where required
• Manage engineer certifications (ACS, Gas Safe, etc.) and training records
• Maintain subcontractor compliance, documentation, and contracts
• Oversee asset management and systems compliance (e.g. HHT, FFIQ)
• Monitor driver behaviour, mileage claims, and fuel usage
• Manage incident reporting including RIDDOR and Gas Safe requirements
Employee Performance
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of circa 9 employees
• Conduct regular 1:1s and team meetings
• Drive employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure delivery of accurate, timely, and efficient operational support
Requirements:
• Proven experience in fleet management, including vehicle lifecycle, leasing, maintenance, and
compliance
• Experience managing external fleet providers and third-party suppliers
• Experience in logistics, planning, scheduling, or field service operations
• Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks (fleet and/or engineering)
• Proven ability to analyse data and present actionable insights
• Experience managing budgets, suppliers, and contracts
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Strong people management and leadership capability
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar tools
