The Opportunity:
The Office of Academic Engagement (OAE) supports student involvement in high impact educational experiences at Washington State University. Our access, success, and affordability programs help students stay in college, graduate on time, and prepare for life after graduation. This position provides office support and business services in a high volume, highly productive environment where administrative efficiency is necessary for the support and success of student initiatives delivering impactful programming.
As the Fiscal Specialist 1, you will serve as administrative support in fiscal, facility, personnel, and logistical matters. You will provide front office support for OAE, its programs, and the Commons Student Center. Your responsibilities will include assisting with purchasing, budget management, inventory control and supply, mail distribution, creating administrative tools, arranging travel, and performing data analysis. You should be well-versed in department and university policies and resources to provide student and stakeholder referrals. In this role, you will represent the organization with internal and external constituents.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,581 to $4,771 | Range 40 Steps A- M| Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
• Three years of fiscal record keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
• Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in administrative, finance, and record management.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Attention to details, organized, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
• Experience analyzing, evaluating, using professional judgment and/or applying a comprehensive depth of knowledge of student issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in Higher Education.
• Knowledgeable with both PC, Mac, tablet hard/software.
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables and Power Queries.
• Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite and/or WordPress.
• Knowledgeable in Workday Administrative Systems.
• Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
• Experience working with diverse faculty, students and staff.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
• Familiarity with Washington State University Business Policies and Procedures.
• Professional experience related to the design, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and strategic planning at college.
