Summary:

Financial Clearance Representative II: Administers the clinical authorization process and resolves more complex clinical authorization issues; assists with training Financial Clearance Representative I's on the eligibility and benefits; reviews reports to monitor unit efficiency; evaluates problems and appropriately reports or resolves such issues. Starting hourly rate is $24.39

Financial Clearance Representative III: Conducts interviews with patients to provide financial counseling regarding insurance coverage, co-payments, deductibles, payment options and account analysis; collects payments as needed, conducts insurance verification when needed; assists with maintenance of the master Insurance Directory; participates in compliance with managed care criteria by obtaining required referrals and waivers; assists patients with Medicaid processes; determines Medicaid eligibility, authorization and/or makes payment arrangements for the organization. Serves as the “public face” of patient financial services; balances the organization’s interests with providing a positive patient experience tactfully and professionally; provides financial counseling to patients regarding insurance coverage and benefits, out-of-pocket costs, assistance opportunities, account analysis and payment options; provides counseling and assistance to patients either over the phone, in the financial counseling office, in the outpatient clinic, on the inpatient floor, or when necessary and appropriate out in the community; provides leadership, training and assistance over the functions of the Financial Clearance Representatives and Payment Services Clerks; works with physicians on treatment plans, cost estimates and drug replacement plans; serves as an interface with the medical staff to the patient financial services department; provides assistance and maintains communication with all internal customers throughout Roswell Park (including but not limited to Patient Access, Patient Accounting, Social Work, Case Management, the Attorney General’s Office, clinicians and clinic staff). Starting hourly rate is $27.32

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

Financial Clearance Representative II:
1. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in authorization and follow-up procedures or related field; or
2. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience Financial Clearance and/or Patient Access within the Financial Clearance Department at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Financial Clearance Representative III:
1. Associate's degree and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in authorization and follow-up procedures or related fields; or
2. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time experience in authorization and follow-up procedures or related fields; or
3. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time experience in Financial Clearance and/or Patient Access within the Financial Clearance Department at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

NOTE:
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
