The Opportunity:

As the Finance/Budget Manager for the Crop and Soil Sciences department, you will be responsible for managing the administrative and personnel functions of the department and serve as a principal advisor to the department chair. You will be responsible for fiscal and budgetary management, facilities and resource management, coordination of contracts and grants, and development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement. 

Monthly Salary: $4,942.10 - $7,569.55 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated effective managerial experience.

  • Demonstrated experience with Excel.

  • Demonstrated experience with preparing financial reports.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience using computer accounting information systems and/or applications software.

  • Experience with state and government regulations pertaining to fiscal management.

  • Experience working in an academic environment.

  • Experience working with grants and/or contracts.

  • Related experience at Washington State University (WSU) or other higher education institutions.

  • Experience with short and long-term planning.

  • Experience with Washington State University, or other universities, budget, accounting, and personnel systems (OPDRS, Workday, myWSU, WSUJobs).
