JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the 2IC Field Services the Field Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting maintenance activities as directed. The Field Maintenance Technician is required to understand the functionality of all CTC-LIS equipment, providing technical support ongoing availability requirements. The Field Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preparation, deployment and maintenance of CTC-LIS Relay Stations including diagnoses and repair of telecommunications equipment (UHF, microwave and LTE) and basic servicing and maintenance of diesel-powered generators.
This role requires the incumbent to spend significant time deployed away from Townsville to various Australian Army and Non-Defence Training Areas. The Field Maintenance Technician works in a small team environment, providing 24-hour coverage for maintenance activities during the Force-on Force phase of each Exercise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
BPT to deputize for the 2IC Field Services in periods of absence. BPT assume leadership role within small team environment during field deployments. Conduct inspections, maintenance and associated repairs of CTC-LIS instrumentation equipment. BPT to provide technical advice and assistance during instrumentation function checking phases. Conduct Pre deployment readiness checks of CTC-LIS telemetry and mechanical equipment as directed. Maintain CTC-LIS telemetry equipment/equipment as directed, including during Field Deployments. Service and conduct minor repairs to diesel small engines (generator).

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in installation and maintenance of communications systems. Basic knowledge and understanding of electronics and electrical principles. Proven fault-finding skills. Ability to identify and analyse maintenance issues, prioritizing and communicating intent and outcomes. Ability to conduct the above in both a field and workshop environment. Proven communicator, with sound written and verbal skills. Experience in the use of IT systems and programs.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Hold a Cert III in Telecommunications, Electrotechnology or comparable qualification. Hold a clean Heavy Truck Licence IOT drive company equipment or willingness to undertake training to gain licence. Hold a Vehicle Loading Crane high risk licence or the willingness to undertake training to gain licence. Hold a Work at Heights qualification or willingness to undertake training to gain Work at Heights qualification; and Hold a Forklift licence to operate company equipment or willingness to undertake training to gain a Forklift licence.
Successful outcome of a National Police Check
Ability to obtain and hold an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency security clearance
