Job Summary
The primary function of a Feed Mill Transportation Supervisor is to oversee the scheduling, delivery, and retrieval of poultry feed through subordinate Feed Delivery Supervisors, review driver loads ensuring consistent and equitable load dispatch, data entry, equipment upkeep, and delivery of safety training.
Job Responsibilities
- Partnering with Feed Mill Manager, establish and follow programs to efficiently haul, deliver, and reclaim feed to ensure sufficient feed is available to grow out as required and reclaimed when overage reported
- Oversee feed loads dispatched by Feed Delivery Supervisors to subordinate truck drivers to ensure correct feed formula is transported or reclaimed; review, research, and reconcile tickets; report anomalies to Feed Mill Manager
- Ensure daily reporting is accurately completed and recorded as required (e.g. department reports, attendance / staffing, yields, etc.)
- Ensure the department is adhering to required procedures to ensure DOT, FDA, USDA, and company requirements are met
- Investigate delivery errors, making corrective actions, and follow-up on recommendations to ensure implemented
- Respond to vehicle accidents to ensure proper procedures are followed, communicate to Health & Safety Mgr and participate in investigation of root cause filing required reports
- Perform driver ride-a-longs annually providing feedback and provide required training, lead safety meetings, ensure proper protective equipment is worn in areas where required and departmental safety walk-through to foster and uphold a zero-accident culture
- Monitor equipment use and downtime, schedule preventative maintenance and repairs, and downtime utilizing information to plane efficient use of available equipment
- Perform other related duties as directed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have knowledge of and experience in feed manufacturing, feed mills, trucking, including scheduling, and delivery
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment using excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail.
- Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with other employees and vendors.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
- Physical abilities include but not limited to ability to lift 40 lbs., bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, twisting, kneeling, and standing for long periods
- Ability to work non-standard shifts to meet business need (holiday, weekend, and extended)
Education
The position requires a High School Diploma/ Equivalent; Associates’ degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or other relevant filed preferred. May require a valid CDL license.
Experience
The position requires a minimum of three (3) years of data entry/ clerical experience with strong knowledge of feed milling procedures and processes including scheduling.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in a manufacturing environment, cold and humid and/ or hot and dusty environment. Loud noise above 89 lbs. possible and the ability to work non-standard shifts to meet business need (holiday, weekend, and extended)
