Job Summary: This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major Duties:

  • You will act as field representative at the piers.
  • You will answer questions regarding shore services, transmits and received radio communication, acts as general assistant for Berthing Services.
  • You will maintain schedules for maintenance and/or repair of marine facilities and equipment. Maintain brows, platforms and related pier equipment.
  • You will use Microsoft Officer computer program to maintain a computerized inventory of over 200 brows and platforms and the location of and types available for instant use.
  • You will assist in conducting daily inspections of all piers and quay walls and take actions necessary to insure that all are in working order and kept free of loose materials.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Knowledge of marine (berthing/pier) facilities, operations, regulations and procedures; 2) Assist Harbor Pilots with the proper berthing of ships; 3) Act as a liaison between Berthing Services Officer and fleet units for the effective utilization of pier spaces and services and 4) serve as pier safety representative to insure that security personnel are supervising the handling of hazardous materials.
