Facilities Landscape Student Worker (FWS/NFWS)
This position will start in Spring 2026.
All applicants for this position can work up to 20 hours per week.
All applicants must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week.
Purpose within the Organization:
The purpose of this position is to assist and support the campus beautification efforts on our growing campus by collaborating with our Facilities Landscape Department with their duties as well as contribute to landscape projects as needed.
Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
- Assist the landscape team with beautification projects installing different landscaping materials such as decorative rock and sand.
- Support the landscape team to remove debris from landscape around campus.
- Support the landscape team in prep/post cleaning for campus events/activities.
- Assist the landscape team by cutting grass and trimming trees and bushes.
- Assist the landscape team to load/unload grass and tree cuttings.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Equipment:
Will use landscape equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, shovels, trowels, rakes, garbage pickers, pruners, pickaxes, air blowers, brooms and wheel-barrels.
Qualifications:
- Desire to be a part of the campus beautification efforts.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
- Must maintain excellent attendance.
- Must be available to work a set schedule Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:00 PM
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to endure standing or moving for up to entirety of work shift. May require standing for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work outdoors during times where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees.
- Must be able to handle the stress of meeting changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.
- Must have strong organizational skills and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities while paying close attention to detail.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal team-oriented skills.
Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during GCU’s Landscape Team SUMMER hours of operation.
Student may be subject to termination if he/she falls below the minimum requirements.
Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
