RMIT has some exciting opportunities as part of its Research Infrastructure Signature Initiative investment. These positions are supporting the development of an RMIT approach to research infrastructure and a substantial uplift in its Digital Research Infrastructure.
Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences researchers have complex, nuanced digital infrastructure needs — and RMIT is committed to meeting them. As HASS Cloud Specialist, you'll be the dedicated technical expert for researchers in the College of Design and Social Context and the College of Business and Law, helping them harness cloud platforms, AI, and emerging technologies to power innovative research.
This is a unique role — combining genuine technical depth with the ability to understand and respond to HASS research workflows, cultural and ethical data considerations, and the specific demands of non-STEM disciplines.
About You
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
Demonstrated understanding of HASS research requirements, including culturally responsible practice and ethical use of data and digital artefacts
Proven ability to engage with researchers and translate their workflows into practical digital solutions
Knowledge and practical experience in AI, ML, and quantum computing, and the ability to support their adoption in research contexts
Sound understanding of training technologies, preferably in a cloud computing context, and experience supporting capability-building initiatives
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with students, staff, and industry partners
A Bachelor's degree in humanities, social sciences, business and/or Information Systems or related field (or equivalent); a research qualification is desirable
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
About the Group
This role sits within RMIT's Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) unit, working closely with ITS, AWS, and Microsoft to ensure cloud platforms evolve to support cutting-edge HASS research. You'll manage the HASS training program, curate the platform's application catalogue, and drive adoption of emerging technologies — ensuring the DRI is genuinely accessible and impactful for researchers across DSC and CoBL.
