Facilities & AV Assistant

75 Talavera Part time

PRIMARY DETAIL

Keep the Faculty running smoothly — support world-class teaching and clinical simulation through hands-on AV and facilities expertise

Are you a practical, hands-on professional with a passion for audio-visual technology and facilities support? The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Macquarie University is looking for a Facilities & AV Assistant to join its Faculty Administration team on a casual basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting one of Australia's most innovative health sciences faculties. You'll be at the heart of the action — setting up teaching spaces, operating cutting-edge clinical simulation equipment, and ensuring seamless AV delivery across lecture theatres, meeting rooms, and remote locations. If you thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and enjoy keeping things running behind the scenes, this role is for you.

Macquarie University is building the nation's first fully integrated academic health sciences centre under a university's leadership, bringing together world-leading clinical resources, research facilities, and education programs — and you'll be part of the team that makes it happen every day.

About the Role

As the Facilities & AV Assistant, you will provide essential audio-visual and facilities support across the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, reporting to the Faculty Operations Manager. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and arranging rooms with clinical and teaching equipment for classes and events, including furniture arrangement and equipment placement as directed.

  • Monitoring consumable levels in clinical teaching rooms and student facilities, replenishing stock as required.

  • Supporting MD course logistics and teaching activities.

  • Setting up and operating audio-visual equipment in Faculty lecture theatres, meeting rooms, and remote locations under the guidance of the Clinical and Technical Facilities Team Lead.

  • Providing AV support for FMHHS teaching and meeting spaces.

  • Assisting with routine maintenance and testing of the Faculty's simulation and teaching equipment and building infrastructure, escalating any issues identified to appropriate support services.

Please note: This role requires work outside of standard business hours to support events and requires comfort working in a clinical, medical environment.

About Us

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is home to active research programs across biomedical, translational, and health services domains, with strengths in neurosciences, cancer medicine, and vascular science. It hosts the internationally acclaimed Australian Institute of Health Innovation and offers a unique suite of capability-based medical education programs, including the Macquarie MD, Doctor of Physiotherapy, and an accelerated Bachelor of Clinical Science.

About You

You are a reliable, service-oriented professional who enjoys working with technology in a fast-paced educational and clinical setting. You bring practical AV skills, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine willingness to support the people around you.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a range of digital audio-visual systems.

  • Experience with room-based and desktop video conferencing systems.

  • Solid computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service in a support-focused role

  • Experience providing support services for AV technology in a complex environment.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and at times independently

  • Comfortable working in a clinical or health-related environment.
