This role supports DSM and commercial efficiency programs by recruiting, educating, and engaging trade allies (private contractors) in the assigned territory. Candidate promotes program products and services through contractor/vendor channels, communicates program updates, gathers feedback to measure market impact, and resolves trade ally and customer questions effectively and efficiently.
This position can be hired at either the career or senior level of the Trade Ally Outreach Representative classification. The candidate is expected to works independently with minimal supervision, applying strong technical and program knowledge to identify issues, develop solutions, and support business energy goals. Builds and maintains vendor relationships, connects trade allies to Duke Energy products and services, and drives ongoing cross-sell opportunities as new offerings become available.
Goal Attainment
Development and responsible for an existing network of trade allies who already participate in our suite of Energy Efficiency program offerings.
Develop, communicate and execute long-term / annual outreach plans, market and segment plans to deliver financial results in total and for each jurisdiction
Review, validate, and help to process applications for our SmartSaver program Trade Allies.
Develop and lead training for Trade Ally staff, and sales teams on our program offerings. Enabling them to become ongoing program participants.
Develop and provide draft accrual submissions
Operational Management
Develop, manage, and maintain program documentation of performance and standard operating procedures
Analyze information to prepare a summary of finds that lead to implementation and actionable improvements for our customers and Trade Allies.
Understand and monitor issues impacting assigned offerings including items like financial challenges, regulatory constraints, code & standard modifications, technology and environmental standards which impact offerings.
Implement tools, software and processes as needed for customer relationship management, vendor information exchange, and other business operational and reporting needs.
Marketing, Sales & Acquisition
Analyze and understand market research results.
Identify and implement promotional & sales strategies to expand offers accessibility to key target audiences.
Capture, track and ensure timely follow-up on leads generated by campaigns, events, communications, plans and assessments
Evaluative key performance indicators that provide opportunities to improve lead generation and close rates by implementing initiatives to improve performance.
Business & Vendor Relationship Management
Support development of vendor relationships through in-person outreach at their brick and mortar locations, through conferences and trade organizations.
Assist in managing the vendor relationships like a business owner for items like adherence to contract terms, compliance & performance standards, quality, timeliness, tracking and reporting, invoicing, customer satisfaction and in compliance with program terms and conditions.
Conduct meetings and calls with vendor as needed to monitor performance, identify issues and adjust to changing conditions.

Products and Services Specialist
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or related degree.
In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) listed above, High School/GED degree AND 5 year(s) related work experience
Senior Products and Services Specialist
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Marketing or related degree
Minimum 2 years related work experience
In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) listed above, High School/GED degree AND 7 year(s) related work experience
Preferred certifications: Engineer In Training, Certified Energy Manager, Business Energy Professional.
Excellent listening skills
Demonstrated understanding of rates and tariffs
Knowledge of various Duke programs including EE, Demand Response, Outdoor Lighting, Back-up gen, Solar, EV, Direct Efficiency as a service
Prior experience working for a lighting, HVAC, Pumps and motors or similar industry.
Customer/vendor experience with proven track record of success in high volume setting .
Promote a collaborative atmosphere through their actions within their own department, as well as with other departments, to ensure mutual success and as well as superior customer experience.
Technical knowledge of efficiency technologies.
Use of and experience with customer relationship sales tracking software (Salesforce)
Be able to juggle deadlines, follow-up, and varying types of calls to and from different technologies, lighting, HVAC, pumps, drives, and others.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Knowing how to prioritize work load
Ability to close trade ally projects and identify future opportunities
Ability to develop recommendations on energy efficiency improvements and equipment retrofits, identification of outdoor lighting, demand response, and energy services leads, as well as any future products and services that may be developed.
Maintain accurate records/documentation.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interact effectively
Comfort level with public speaking, presenting and training small and large groups.
Sales/Customer – Capable Customer/Vendor interaction experience
Facility/Technical - understanding building envelope and equipment. What drives energy related costs and how energy efficiency drives costs down.
Manage and grow trade ally assignment portfolio.
Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
Home office environment with day travel required, including overnight travel and site visits as needed.
Long periods of sitting and extended use of computer and telephone/cell phone or other PDA device.
All positions are on call 24/7 during storm
