EXPLOSIVES SAFETY SPECIALIST

Job Summary: This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Major Duties:

  • You will evaluate explosives safety instructions, regulations, procedures, guidelines, manuals, and standards for information and for local implementation.
  • You will administer the Hot-Work Permit Program for the explosives area according to explosives safety guidelines.
  • You will draft correspondence (e.g., instructions, notices, memorandums, reports, letters) for training and educating staff on the Explosives Safety Program
  • You will brief or present information to others to share explosive safety operational results, resolve problems, develop plans, and make suggestions for improvements.
  • You will assist with other Safety Office functions as directed

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Ensuring compliance with explosives safety policy and regulations; 2) Identifying potential explosives safety hazards/threats and recommending procedures to minimize or eliminate the hazard/threat; and 3) Performing periodic/unscheduled inspections of facilities (both explosive handling and non-explosive handling), warehouses, and equipment maintenance operation areas to ensure compliance with explosive safety standards.
