This Expert Systems Engineer role is a technical position within the team responsible for enterprise billing platforms that ensure accuracy, reliability, and financial integrity at scale. As a technical leader in the Billing domain, you will shape the modernization of billing systems by applying AI‑driven and platform‑oriented approaches to improve accuracy, exception handling, and operational efficiency. Beyond domain ownership, this role operates as a cross‑platform leader, partnering with product, finance, and technology teams to modernize legacy capabilities into scalable, compliant, and future‑ready billing platforms aligned with enterprise priorities.
What You’ll Do
Design and lead enterprise billing platforms and services responsible for accuracy, scalability, and financial integrity across customer and partner ecosystems.
Architect high‑reliability billing systems that support invoicing, adjustments, settlements, and downstream financial processes.
Translate complex billing, finance, and operational requirements into robust technical architectures aligned with business outcomes.
Own the technical roadmap for billing platforms, ensuring alignment with platform strategy, compliance needs, and long‑term modernization goals.
Serve as the primary technical owner for billing initiatives, accountable for delivery success, architectural integrity, and system performance.
Partner with finance, product, and downstream platform teams to ensure billing solutions integrate cleanly across the BSS landscape.
Drive performance, reconciliation, and reliability analysis, resolving defects, data inconsistencies, and systemic risks.
Ensure systems meet security, audit, regulatory, and compliance requirements, maintaining detailed technical and architectural documentation.
Apply AI‑enabled approaches to improve billing accuracy, exception handling, and operational efficiency.
Provide technical leadership across multiple domains, influencing platform‑wide decisions beyond billing.
What You’ll Need
Proven experience designing billing, invoicing, or financial platforms in complex enterprise environments.
Strong architectural background in transactional systems, data integrity, reconciliation, and financial accuracy.
Experience translating business and finance requirements into secure, reliable technical solutions.
Ability to make high‑impact architectural decisions across platform, software, and cloud environments.
Demonstrated success leading initiatives through technical leadership and collaboration.
What You’ll Bring
Master's degree (MS/MA) desired in Computer Science, preferred.
10+ years of related engineering experience.
Expert‑level knowledge of billing systems, financial platforms, or large‑scale transactional architectures.
Experience leading wide‑scope, high‑visibility programs with material operational and business impact.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, particularly in data accuracy and system integrity challenges.
Ability to work autonomously while partnering closely with senior and executive stakeholders.
