Environmental Technician
Location: Silverdale, Washington (Bangor)
Type: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Full-time
Compensation: $32.46-$32.46 (hourly ) + benefits
HMG is seeking a reliable and experienced Enviromental Technician. The Environmental Technician will primarily handle hazardous waste pickups, processing of hazardous waste, shipment of wastes, spill responses and pump truck operations for wastes or septic. Additional duties include performing inspections and documenting results according to Navy requirements. This position has a high degree of compliance requirements according WA State Dangerous Waste, EPA Federal rules, and Navy requirements.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Perform environmental sampling, field testing, and documentation for wastewater, stormwater, hazardous materials, and regulated waste programs.
Manage hazardous waste collection, packaging, labeling, and shipment per Navy, Federal, State, and DOT regulations.
Conduct hazardous waste pickups, bulking, consolidation, and transportation to accumulation sites.
Maintain logs, operating records, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws and Navy standards.
Inspect and maintain tools, trucks, and equipment used in waste handling operations.
Perform industrial and environmental services including tank cleaning, pressure washing, hazmat cleanup, and pump truck operations.
Conduct facility inspections for hazardous waste storage, stormwater monitoring, and spill prevention compliance.
Participate in spill response, cleanup, and Facility Response Team (FRT) activities; maintain HAZWOPER and FRT credentials.
Determine and wear appropriate PPE for hazardous waste and spill response tasks, including respirators and protective suits.
Assist customers in setting up compliant waste storage areas and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
Record and close out work orders in Maximo with accurate and detailed entries.
Identify trends or issues in environmental documentation and recommend corrective actions.
Participate in required safety and environmental compliance training.
Qualifications:
Highschool Diploma/GED is required.
0- 3 years' experience in Environmental Field
First Aid/CPR Certification.
OSHA series training. S
Strong maintenance background preferred.
Familiarity with military equipment and facilities.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
