The Engineering Technologist Ill position is the third level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role. An Engineering Technologist Ill provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Employees in the Engineering Technologist III position are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.
Responsibilities

Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in area of expertise
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
Conducts engineering and related studies to prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches with limited guidance
Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills and performance of self and junior engineers
Works as One to develop and promote positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities within group and cross work-group boundaries
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
Maintains accurate records and files
Participates in other assigned duties during emergency or storm events
Participates in other assigned duties during emergency or storm events
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Storm duty required in and out of the zone. Overnight travel is required in and out of the zone
Required/Basic Qualifications
Either 2+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 4+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 6+ years equivalent experience without a degree.
Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering technology
In addition to desired degree, 5 plus years related work experience
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of electrical power engineering
Familiarity with evaluating existing infrastructure and upgrading as needed to support customer development
Experience with three phase design, layout, and material selection for medium voltage power distribution systems
AutoCAD experience
Experience designing duct bank systems
Ability to ensure compliance with internal design standards and specifications
Requires high customer interaction and excellent communication
Ability to complete cost estimates and revenue calculations
Strong analytical skills
Strong organizational skills
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Good written and oral communication skills.
Experience in the utility industry.
Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management.
Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
