Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as an Industrial Engineer in the Amherst Systems business unit within the Navigation, Targeting, and Survivability division located in Buffalo, NY.
We are looking for a self-starter who can work with minimal direction, has strong oral and written communication, a strong sense of accountability and interpersonal skills, and who’s able to successfully collaborate across organizations and functions to meet common objectives. The Manufacturing organization builds, and tests a variety of electronic components and systems used in the development, test, validation, and training of Electronic Warfare hardware, software, and personnel to ensure the safety and success of the warfighter.
What you will get to do:
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of data sources and data gathering techniques.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations to monitor factory performance metrics such as yield, cycle time, throughput and equipment utilization.
- Forecast planning to evaluate manufacturing schedules, equipment capacities, and staffing levels.
- Perform root cause analysis on production issues using statistical and data-driven methods.
- Support process improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma and Industrial Engineering principles.
- Support data infrastructure and reporting improvements to increase visibility into manufacturing performance.
- Present analysis results and recommendations to engineering and operations leadership.
- Collaborating with stakeholders, teammates, and business leaders
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the:
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to cross functional teams.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in a manufacturing environment.
Basic Qualifications for the Industrial Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering or a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering or a related engineering discipline with 0 years of experience.
- Experience performing data analysis on production, manufacturing or operational datasets.
- Experience creating/presenting data visualizations, dashboards or reports using Excel, Tableau, Power BI or other visualization tools.
- Experience reviewing or supporting manufacturing routings, process flows or workflow documentation.
- Experience working with manufacturing data related to production metrics such as yield, cycle time or throughput.
- Ability to obtain/maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.
- US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications for the Industrial Engineer:
- Experience with SAP and generating dashboards from reports.
- Experience with SQL for querying manufacturing databases.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Experience with statistical analysis and process capability metrics
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience managing databases, data structures, data governance.
- Experience with graphic design background, creating user interfaces, and user focused dashboards.

Primary Level Salary Range: $78,500.00 - $113,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
