Major Duties:
Qualifications: GS-13: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Incumbent will support the specification of requirements, the development of systems or software, the transition of the systems or software to operation, and other operations. Incumbent will utilize his or her expertise to participate as an effective member of the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO) team. Type of work can span from applied research, through development, to operations. The incumbent will participate in the processing of (defined as the application of algorithms to improve the quality of, or extract relevant parameters from, raw data) and analysis of (defined as the application of algorithms in order to extract relevant information from processed data) data in support of the mission area. GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: The purpose of this developmental position is to provide for a period during which the selected employee will gain experience through progressively more responsible assignments. The incumbent will work under gradually decreasing supervisory controls until such time as the incumbent is fully qualified to assume the full range of duties and responsibilities, as described in the targe position. Supervision will become less detailed as the incumbent acquires additional knowledge and experience. GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-9) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: The incumbent applies a broad knowledge of diverse engineering concepts and procedures. Guidelines will normally apply to his/her assignments but require significant adaptations for particular assignments. The supervisor provides information and guidance on unusual problems. The incumbent determines the nature of the issues involved and independently plans and carries out the work. The work is reviewed for genal adequacy, effect of findings, and conformance with policies and procedures. The incumbent can make commitments on matters in his/her area that ar covered by precedents, regulations, policies, and practices.
