We are looking for an experienced Journeyperson Electrician to join our Energy and Utilities Maintenance team at our Mildred Lake operations! If you take pride in safely maintaining a wide variety of industrial equipment to ensure optimum reliability, we want to hear from you!

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five years of trade experience as a fully qualified Journeyperson in a large industrial facility

  • High voltage experience maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting and switching high voltage systems (equipment up to 15KV) 

  • A valid Alberta Journeyperson certified or Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician certificate; attach your Journeyperson / Red Seal ticket with your application in order to be considered 

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:

  • Execute planned maintenance and response work

  • Install, inspect, commission, and troubleshoot Electrical Heat Trace (EHT) systems used for freeze protection and process temperature maintenance across oil sands facilities

  • Install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide spectrum of plant electrical equipment and machinery in high- and low-voltage applications  

  • Maintain, test and ensure the functionality of electrical equipment protection systems, safety systems, emergency shutdown (ESD) equipment, and backup systems 

  • Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems and participate in failure analysis discussions  

  • Plan jobs, which includes material assessment and selection  

  • Develop and execute switching procedures  

  • Maintain equipment histories as required  

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of a Syncrude location in Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • The shift schedule is a four days on / three days off rotation; 10hr shifts 

  • This position is safety sensitive

  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces 

  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
