Electrical Engineering Intern - Spring/Summer 2026

CX2 is a next-generation defense technology company founded to deliver spectrum dominance for the United States and our allies. CX2’s AI-enabled hardware and software platforms detect, disrupt and defend the electromagnetic spectrum across land, air, sea and space domains.

CX2 is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to work with us during the Spring/Summer of 2026. Rising senior year candidates are strongly preferred.

This role is based at our company HQ in El Segundo, CA. Candidates must be available to be onsite a minimum of 15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
- Circuit Design and Development: Assist in designing, assembling, and testing electronic circuits for drone systems, including power distribution, sensors, and communication modules.
- Radio Systems Integration: Support the integration and testing of advanced radio-frequency (RF) systems for drone communication and navigation.
- Embedded Systems Programming: Collaborate on programming microcontrollers and embedded systems for drone operation and telemetry.
- Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct testing of electronic components and systems, diagnosing and resolving issues to ensure optimal performance.
- PCB Design and Prototyping: Assist in the design and layout of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for custom drone applications using tools like Altium or KiCad.
- Data Analysis: Analyze system performance data and recommend improvements for signal quality, power efficiency, and overall reliability.
- Research and Development: Contribute to research initiatives focusing on RF propagation, interference mitigation, and advanced communication protocols.

Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field (junior or senior year preferred) at a local school (within commuting distance to El Segundo).
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of circuit design and simulation tools (e.g., LTSpice, Multisim).
- Familiarity with RF systems and communication protocols (e.g., LoRa, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).
- Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, Arduino, or similar).
- Understanding of PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, or Eagle).
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze system-level performance.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Passion: Genuine interest in drones, robotics, and advanced communication technologies.
