Color Material and Finish Engineer
The Color, Material and Finish team combines deep expertise and innovation to shape advanced computer products, materials, and processes. What you’ll achieve
You will join a growing team of technical experts dedicated to advancing technology incubations that elevate the customer experience. In this role, you will work within a global, interdisciplinary design and technology organization, collaborating closely with teammates, product engineering, marketing, corporate sustainability, and other key stakeholders. We are seeking someone who is passionate about technology, open‑minded, and eager to continuously learn. Your primary responsibilities will center on driving both our product roadmap and our CMF technology roadmaps. You will:
Lead the CMF execution of the assigned products to ensure the design intent is achieved working closely with the CMF Designers.
Drive technology incubations and roadmap for assigned incubations related to new finish technologies, material technologies or process technology.
Influence ID/CMF selections during notebook products concept phase at a material and product level. Define approved solutions based on the product design and the technology capability.
Conduct NUDD investigations, related to design, as required to meet design objectives during concept phase for new products.
Create strategic engagements with our external technology suppliers and partners. Able to influence their technology roadmaps to align with DELL's computer objectives.

Essential Requirements
8+ years CMF working experience on notebook/PC/laptop/computer product
Fluent English skill, co-work with global team.
Knowledgeable in coating technology, material technology or anodizing process.
Background partnering with suppliers to resolve technical barriers and identifying those barriers. Able to tackle complex problems and work through the solutions.
Ability to work in and be successful in highly matrixed organization structures to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to drive engineering rigor and best practices within the team
Experience in product development and passionate about technology development
Successfully able excel in environments with ambiguity.
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering or Chemistry
Desirable Requirements
Ability to see and judge color matching vs. existing standards
Experience with DELL's product development cycle with a passion to bring new technologies from idea to reality.
Experience with typical finishes used for electronics: Paint, Anodizing, etc
Experience working in electronics supply chain in an ODM model.
