DESCRIPTION:
Join our R&D team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and help create next-generation analytical and laboratory instruments that enable breakthrough scientific discoveries. As an Electrical Engineer II, you'll design and develop sophisticated electronic systems for scientific instruments, from mass spectrometers to chromatography systems. Work on challenging projects involving analog/digital circuits, high-voltage electronics, and embedded systems while collaborating with diverse teams. Lead projects through the full development cycle - from initial concept through design, testing, documentation and transfer to manufacturing. Make an impact by solving complex technical challenges that help advance science and improve lives.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree with no prior experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years of experience in electronic hardware design and development
• Preferred Fields of Study: Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field
• Professional certifications in electrical safety standards and regulations an advantage
• Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design, including high-voltage and mixed-signal systems
• Proficiency with PCB design and layout tools such as Altium Designer or equivalent
• Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs
• Knowledge of regulatory standards (UL, CE, EMC/EMI) and product safety requirements
• Ability to create and review technical documentation, schematics, and test procedures
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience debugging complex electronic systems
• Expertise with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
• Experience with design simulation and analysis tools (SPICE, etc.)
• Project management and organizational abilities
• Written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, distributed teams
• Knowledge of product lifecycle management and engineering change processes
• Experience with component selection, qualification and obsolescence management
• Familiarity with manufacturing and DFM/DFT principles
