As an Expert-On-Call (EOC) Engineer within Collins Aerospace’s Avionics Test Engineering organization, you will play a critical role in troubleshooting, optimizing, and sustaining advanced manufacturing test systems that support both commercial airlines and defense customers globally.

You will work across a diverse mix of modern and legacy hardware and software systems, partnering with engineers and leaders across global sites to ensure test solutions meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and quality. What You Will Do:

  • Hands-on troubleshooting and support for automated test systems used in production facilities, service centers, and customer environments, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain software solutions using tools such as C#/.NET, NI TestStand, NI LabVIEW, and legacy platforms, improving functionality and reliability of test systems.
  • Design and update electrical hardware solutions, including circuit card assemblies, cables, test adapters, and test stations to support evolving product and test requirements.
  • Diagnose complex technical issues and implement corrective actions, applying structured problem-solving techniques to improve system performance and prevent recurrence.
  • Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation for proprietary systems, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and stakeholders to deploy, improve, and sustain test solutions across multiple locations.
  • Mentor and support early-career engineers, sharing technical expertise and helping build a stronger, more capable engineering team.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • 2+ years of experience designing or supporting electrical assemblies.
  • 2+ years of experience writing or modifying software source code.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with automated test systems, test stations, or manufacturing test environments.
  • Familiarity with C#/.NET, NI TestStand, NI LabVIEW, or similar tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and deliver effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across cross-functional and global teams.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
