The Job:

We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in a full-time capacity. Reporting directly to the Environmental and Safety Manager, this position is essential for fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the organization. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting safety assessments, and facilitating training programs, among other critical tasks.

Administer the implementation and maintenance of the following:

  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and industry standards.
  • Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular audits, inspections, and assessments to identify potential hazards and compliance gaps. Report findings and recommend corrective actions to management.

Risk Assessment and Management

  • Hazard Identification: Participate in comprehensive risk assessments to evaluate workplace hazards, including physical, chemical, and biological risks.
  • Mitigation Strategies: Collaborate with the Environmental and Safety Manager to develop, implement, and monitor effective safety and environmental management strategies.

Training and Education

  • Training Development: Assist in the design and delivery of engaging training programs on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices for all employees.
  • Employee Support: Provide ongoing guidance and support to staff regarding safety procedures, environmental issues, and emergency response protocols.

Incident Reporting and Investigation

  • Accident Investigation: Support the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses. Collect and analyze data to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all incidents and ensure timely reporting to relevant regulatory bodies.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive documentation of safety training, incident reports, compliance inspections, and other relevant EHS data.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing detailed reports for management review, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Program Enhancement: Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and   

regulatory changes to recommend enhancements to existing EHS programs and initiatives.

Committee Participation:

  • Actively participate in EHS committee meetings and collaborate with cross-functional   

teams to drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Emergency Plans: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, ensuring preparedness for environmental and safety incidents.
  • Drills and Training: Organize and facilitate emergency drills and training sessions to ensure staff readiness.

The Person:  

   You will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred but not required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Management. Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with EHS Data Management Platform
  • Strong understanding of EHS management system standards, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage and educate diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team framework.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

The base pay range for this position in California is $57,400 - $85,000 per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
