What is the opportunity?

The Director, Operational Resilience Governance is part of the independent risk management function and accountable for the Operational Resilience Framework and program across UK, Europe and APAC. 

This includes owning formal governance requirements and documents including frameworks, policies and standards, building and maintaining the operational resilience program structure and requirements, providing oversight and challenge on the execution of the program and providing periodic reporting on the program effectiveness and the outcomes of RBC’s resilience activities.

The role is accountable for driving the Operational Resilience program across UK, Europe and APAC businesses to ensure regional regulatory requirements are captured and regional critical operations are identified, assessed, tested in line with resilience requirements.

What will you do?

  • The development of the Operational Resilience program requirements specific to UK, Europe and APAC.

  • Establishing of regional governance requirements including addenda to the Enterprise Operational Resilience Standard where deemed necessary.

  • Driving Operational Resilience activities across UK, Europe & APAC businesses.

  • Regulatory horizon scanning within the UK, Europe & APAC and interpretation of rules/ regulation to ensure that RBC’s policies and programs are effective and aligned with global regulatory requirements.

  • Oversight of the Op Resilience lifecycle programme completion across UK, Europe and APAC cycles, providing structure for the 1LoD and transparency of progress in meeting these.

  • Responsible for the oversight and challenge of Operational Resiliency outcomes across UK, Europe and APAC.

  • Act as the Operational Resilience leader in external stakeholder engagements and to the industry across UK, Europe & APAC jurisdictions.

  • Training of the 1LoD and 2LoD on resiliency requirements.

  • Accountable for reporting on Operational Resiliency on a periodic basis to regional UK, Europe and APAC governance committees.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Extensive experience in financial services sector with a deep understanding of operational risk management being fundamental.

  • Strong experience in regulatory engagement.

  • A proven people leader.

  • Proven track record of building strong relationships across business functions.

  • Well-developed impact and influence skills.

  • Strategic mindset, with excellent knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organisation.

  • Highly developed ability for conceptual thinking.
