The Director of Sourcing & Procurement is responsible for establishing and leading the company’s strategic sourcing and procurement function. This role develops sourcing strategy, drives cost efficiency, strengthens supplier partnerships, and implements procurement governance to support both construction projects and field maintenance operations.
The Director partners cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to improve purchasing discipline, enhance visibility into spend, standardize supplier programs, and ensure that identified savings translate into measurable bottom-line results.

Essential Job Functions
Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies across key categories including MRO, HVAC, plumbing, equipment, tools, subcontracted services, and project materials.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through supplier consolidation, contract negotiation, and competitive sourcing initiatives.
- Establish preferred supplier programs and national account agreements where appropriate.
- Lead supplier negotiations, contract development, and multi-year Master Service Agreements (MSAs).
Procurement Program Development
- Establish procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Implement purchasing controls, approval workflows, and compliance standards.
- Standardize sourcing processes to support both construction projects and field service operations.
Field & Operational Support
- Oversee warehouse inventory and procurement team
- Collaborate with field leadership to align procurement strategies with operational needs.
- Develop structured approaches to inventory management for field technicians and job sites.
- Improve purchasing discipline and reduce uncontrolled or non-compliant spend.
- Support operational efficiency through supplier performance optimization.
Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
- Build strong, strategic partnerships with key suppliers and distributors.
- Establish vendor performance metrics (KPIs) and conduct regular business reviews.
- Address service and pricing gaps through structured performance management.
- Monitor supplier compliance with contract terms and service expectations.
Spend Analytics & Financial Impact
- Develop spend visibility and reporting tools to support data-driven decision making.
- Conduct market analysis and evaluate pricing trends.
- Quantify business cases for sourcing initiatives and operational improvements.
- Partner with Finance to optimize payment terms and working capital strategies.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a strategic partner to Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
- Partner with Finance to ensure savings are tracked, validated, and realized.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives and define clear roles and responsibilities (RACI frameworks).
- Build and mentor procurement team members as the function scales.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Serves as a responsible leader, through the direction and guidance of the team, to ensure all safety requirements for all jobs are upheld for the protection of co-workers, subcontractors, the public, and the client by supporting all Company safety efforts.

Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, operations, or related industries.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience required.
- Demonstrated success negotiating supplier contracts and driving measurable cost savings.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations and field service teams preferred.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proven ability to build processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced environments.
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficient with computers and familiar with Microsoft Software Suite.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to multi-task, have strong attention to detail, and have excellent time management skills to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Able to identify a need, remove barriers, and know how to make things happen.
