Van Andel Institute (VAI), Office of Philanthropy, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Philanthropy - Signature Events to lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of high-profile events that advance our mission, strengthen community engagement, and drive fundraising success. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This position will lead a team of experienced fundraising and event professionals and will report directly to the Vice President of Philanthropy. The Director will work in close collaboration with Van Andel Institute First Lady, Mrs. Carol Van Andel.

About the Role:

  • Strategize and lead the planning, execution, and growth of VAI’s premier fundraising and community events.
  • Innovate experiences that captivate donors, partners, and the public, transforming moments into movements.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure events align with VAI’s mission, brand, and philanthropic goals.
  • Drive impact by building relationships and maximizing engagement to support groundbreaking research and education initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (i.e.  Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, Communications, Event Management, Hospitality Management, Marketing etc.)
  • Combination of education and equivalent experience, 7+ years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is benefits eligible. A benefits overview is available on our careers page. The salary you can expect in this role is $145,000-$160,000, and will be based on your experience and skills
