We have an opportunity for the Director of Engineering to join our Manitowoc, WI team. You will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive engineering expertise and a proven track record in Research & Development, New Product Development and Manufacturing Engineering environments. This role requires a strategic thinker capable of guiding a talent engineering team to achieve operational excellence and drive innovation to allow for growth and profitability of the Ice category. This position will be reported to the General Manager, and this role will be based at our Manitowoc office and manufacturing plant in Manitowoc, WI.

You will:

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with the category’s overall goals and objects; provide visionary leadership to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Lead innovation process and planning, inclusive of early-stage market research and analysis required to identify new product category adjacencies and new markets/applications
  • Build future-looking product development roadmaps, with an emphasis on digital capabilities
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team while ensuring effective collaboration and communication with the team and across functions to meet project deadlines and quality standards
  • Oversee the planning, execution and successful completion of engineering projects; ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and manage the engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources; monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality and performance
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain and product management, to drive seamless integration of engineering solutions
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental and regulatory requirements; foster a culture of safety within the engineering team

Key Qualifications: 

  • Have earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a combination of innovation & manufacturing engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position
  • Innovation & Product Development: experience in guiding teams through the innovation process, from market research, ideation to product development and market launch, including knowledge of prototyping, testing and scaling products.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and managing complex projects
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control and regulatory requirements
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
  • Commitment to safety and compliance standards
  • Global experience (culture, business practices, regulatory etc.) will be critical to being successful in the role. Leading by example and able to partner and lead partnership across global, matrixed, and cross-functional Business Units and teams.
  • Experience leading transformational change and serving as a change agent in partnership with leadership.
  • 25% of international travel is required.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $149000 - $276700 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus and/or long-term incentives.
