Director, Logistics & Transportation, Tarkett North America

Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain & Customer Service, this role leads the development and execution of strategic and operational plans that maximize the value of Logistics and Transportation across Tarkett North America. The Director will design integrated strategies that connect Customers, Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain, driving efficiency, cost optimization, responsiveness, and sustainability. This position manages a team of 4 direct reports and 80 associates, and is accountable for a Budget of over $70M across logistics and freight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistent, efficient logistics and transportation services that provide a sustainable competitive advantage to Tarkett North America’s customers.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance service levels across all business units.
  • Develop and execute warehouse and transportation strategies, assessing both in-house and outsourced solutions and advanced cost structures. Lead contract negotiations with 3PLs, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Establish clear operational metrics, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions to close gaps.
  • Evaluate and integrate technology solutions for warehouse and transportation management.
  • Serve as escalation point for critical customer issues; ensure proactive communication on material deliveries and delays.
  • Lead cross-functional projects with Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and industry leaders; identify and implement best practices for freight procurement and logistics.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (APICS certification preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, and supply chain (planning, procurement).
  • Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent in large organizations.
  • Strong business acumen with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in change management across people, processes, and systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence and drive decisions across functions.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain strategy and execution.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP/WMS/TMS systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% domestically.
