Amentum, a global engineering and technology solutions leader in defense, national security, space, energy, and intelligence, is looking for a dynamic Director to lead all aspects of marketing and communications for one of its growing business groups.
The Intelligence & Cyber Marketing and Communications (Marcom) Director has full-spectrum leadership for the function, including marketing and communications strategy, executive communications, media relations and crisis management, advertising, events and sponsorships, content development, internal communications and employee engagement, social media, and community relations. The I&C Marcom Director also serves on the company's Marcom Leadership Team, helping shape enterprise-wide communications strategy and execution. This role is based in the Washington, DC area and required to collaborate with and engage with Corporate and business leaders across the U.S. and strategic global regions.
Amentum’s I&C is a multi-billion-dollar business that provides engineering, space solutions, systems development and modernization, and training to the U.S. government and commercial companies around the world.
The role reports to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and matrixed to the President of the business group. This position requires US Citizenship. This is a HYBRID role and require up to 3 times a week at our Chantilly, VA office.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications and Messaging
Develop and execute a marketing and communications strategy that is purposeful, and comprehensive, and drives I&C business objectives, ensuring alignment with corporate brand and priorities.
Provide executive marketing and communications counsel to the I&C President and leadership team on marketing, employee engagement and external communications. This includes anticipating and identifying challenges and emerging issues that may affect the business’s reputation and proactively developing strategies to address them.
Draw upon the collective expertise and resources of the Amentum Marketing and Communications team to ensure a coordinated communications approach, resulting in solid I&C marcom execution and consistent brand experience across the enterprise.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
Using multiple employee communication channels, develop and execute a comprehensive I&C internal communication strategy that supports the business group’s goals and aligns with the company’s vision, mission, and values.
Develop and implement a thoughtful and purposeful regular internal cadence that includes all hands, leadership visibility, and employee communications and engagement, and builds I&C team’s awareness, motivation and confidence.
Promote I&C stories and successes to the broader Amentum employee population and bring better awareness of the group’s capabilities and expertise internally.
Drive I&C’s community investment program, including corporate sponsorship, charitable giving, community relations, and compliance with all corporate policies.
Marketing & Driving Growth
Oversee the development and execution of marketing communications strategy to deliver on I&C’s financial commitments and long-term goals of sustained, profitable growth and leadership in growth markets.
Develop compelling stories and content around I&C’s teams and expertise to achieve positive exposure through omni-channel marketing, including digital campaigns, advertising, sponsorships, tradeshows, and events.
Partner with the I&C Business Development teams and business line leaders on campaigns to position the team to win recompetes and key pursuits, and strategically open new markets for growth.
As part of the brand and marketing strategy, partner with HR/Talent Acquisition to develop and implement a recruitment marketing strategy and targeted campaigns to help attract new talent across a variety of geographies and skill sets.
Public Relations & Reputation Management
Direct the development and implementation of an effective media relations program aligned with overall Amentum messaging to convey I&C’s strategic themes and differentiating capabilities to a broad audience.
Build and nurture trusted relationships with key I&C external stakeholders, including technology partners, trade publications, associations, and community partners.
Continue to enhance the I&C’s presence and engagement with digital tools, including the company website and a range of social media platforms.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree is preferred.
Typically, 15 years of experience in corporate communications or a related field with at least 5 years leading marketing/communications, working with executives and working as part of a Marketing and Communications leadership team.
Proven experience developing and executing successful marketing and communication programs for a business unit within large, complex organizations.
Experience working in government contracting, preferably with experience in cybersecurity and intelligence market.
Expertise in utilizing digital communication tools, internal social platforms, and employee engagement software.
US Citizenship is required
Compensation Details:
$180k - $250k
