Job Description

Summary

Prescient Holdings Group (PHG) is a healthcare company providing pharmaceutical management solutions to payers, patients, and providers. We are focused on developing the most effective strategies for optimizing drug access and spend through our suite of formulary and rebate services. Industry Relations and Clinical Strategy Manager promotes the overall vision, goals, strategies, and objectives of the PHG Industry Relations and Clinical Strategy team in line with overall company goals and objectives. Strategically develops the pharmaceutical rebate program to meet the revenue goals and business objectives of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads formulary product placement considerations through financial spend/utilization/rebate models, proposing formulary management recommendations for individual drugs and therapeutic classes, sharing market intelligence and industry analysis to assist in understanding the current and future drug marketplace, and contributing to the concepts and features associated with the overall formulary strategy intended to achieve corporate enterprise objectives of optimal rebate performance.
  • Establishes the strategic vision for corporate formulary management to continually improve access, quality, and value of formulary products. Monitors and anticipates current and future marketplace trends, including the regulatory environment, evolving business conditions, customer needs, opportunities and issues. Leads the development and maintainanance of PHG formularies, utilization management, specialty drug lists and other key drug lists important to internal and client needs. Communicates with appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Transforms knowledge into results-generating strategies and product development roadmaps.
  • Collaborates with internal and external trade relations, finance, underwriting, client services, business, IT, and formulary management teams as a subject matter expert related to contractual rebate terms, conditions, requirements, interpretation, compliance and overall rebate and formulary strategies; educates, recommends and creates value proposition messaging and positioning for client proposals in support of formulary changes that drive rebate yields and savings.  Provides information to support sales proposals and BAFOs as assigned.
  • Leads clinical and rebate consultative services related to drug market trends, drug pipeline and forecasting. Manages related analytic needs to support recommendations being considered by assigned clients that align with both the clients’ and the company’s mutual goals of lower net costs and high clinical quality.
  • Responsible for the development and maintainance of content related to clinical, market, and financial strategic initiatives with an intent to provide formulary and rebate strategy logic and rationale to clients.
  • Responsible for highly influential accounts in the pharmaceutical industry. Routinely meets with account managers and senior leadership to establish and maintain functional business relationships, acquire industry intelligence, and to gain information on trends, product pipelines, innovative contracting methods, and other business items that facilitate enhanced contracting leverage and rebate strategies.
  • Responsible for the strategic direction, management, and implementation of annual pharmaceutical manufacturer Medicare and Medicaid RFP’s.
  • Develop and manage members of the PHG Clinical Strategy and/or PHG Rebate Operations team. Support staff training, structure, succession planning, and budget as needed.
  • Supports PHG’s and downstream client’s clinical products and services including but not limited to support of medical rebates, cash point of sale, value-based contract initiatives, and other business initiatives as assigned.
  • Leads the oversight of PHG’s rebate vendor(s), ensuring appropriate representation of the goals, interests and direction of the enterprise as it relates to pharma negotiations and rebate strategy.
  • Manages the PHG rebate vendor operations team, ensuring that all available rebate value is invoiced appropriately and collected.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, accuracy and timely submission of all documentation needed for PHG rebate vendor billing

Supervisory Responsibilities        

Manages assigned staff in the segment area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.

This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written).  One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

Education and/or Experience

BA/BS Degree or equivalent; plus 10 years’ related experience; 10 years of SME in respective area(s); (or equivalent combination of education and experience); and 8 years supervisory experience; Supervisory experience may be substituted with 10 years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader at the Director level or above that must be  completed within 12 months in new position.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint software. The individual must also be capable of becoming proficient with internal systems such as MedOptimize or other business intelligence software, as well as with proprietary MedImpact systems such as MedAccess and systems/databases used by MedImpact Formulary Services.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Registered Pharmacist license in any state of the US

Work Location

This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or other company location (or from a remote location with management approval based on business requirements). Must provide adequate support to internal clients; be available for regular interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as be available to facilitate effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

Working Hours

This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and reasonably meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, at weekends or on holidays as required.  Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business.  Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Travel

This position requires both domestic and international travel of up to 20% of the time.  A valid passport and ability to leave the United States is required
