Do work that matters:
You will be responsible for executing the business development strategy for Transaction Banking within the Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) segment. In this role, you’ll engage with clients and stakeholders across all levels of the Group, contributing to the success of Transaction Banking Solutions through strategic sales execution and effective client management. Reporting to the Executive Director, Business Development, you’ll be part of a high-performing team of Transaction Banking specialists located across Australia.
As a Director, you’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and clients to drive growth and deliver exceptional outcomes, including but not limited to:
Originate and retain strategic transaction banking mandates
Build deep relationships with treasury and finance teams
Lead cross-functional teams in responding to tenders and proposals
Partner with Relationship Coverage teams to develop and execute client plans
Identify innovation opportunities in payments and cash management
Collaborate across product, operations, and delivery teams for seamless execution
Structure and negotiate complex deals for institutional and government clients
Apply technical acumen (ERP, APIs, SaaS) to support solution design
Lead thought leadership initiatives to position the bank as a trusted advisor
Stay ahead of market trends and regulatory developments
Champion continuous improvement and foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture
We’re interested in hearing from people who re candidates with a strong foundation in institutional banking.
8+ years’ experience in transaction banking at a leading domestic or global bank
Prior experience in business development or account management in the Government sector is highly desirable
A self-driven, results-oriented mindset with a track record of exceeding targets
Strong internal network-building and stakeholder management skills
Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and negotiation capabilities
Analytical strength in financial modelling, data analysis, and process design
Deep understanding of transaction banking products (payments, cash management, merchant acquiring and corporate cards)
A risk-aware mindset aligned with CommBank’s standards
Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, business, or related fields (or equivalent experience)
