High school diploma/GED plus two (2) years of experience in certified law enforcement or a related field required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license.
Certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer.
Able to pass a medical physical examination.
Able to pass a psychological examination.
Ability to walk 8 to 12 miles in an 8-to-12-hour shift.
Ability to climb stairwells.
Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.
Engages in and maintains control of situations/persons through the use of minimal force needed in required situations.
Responsibilities:
Supervises Patrol Officers and Security Officers when the Shift Lieutenant and Sergeant are not present.
Submits reports on the condition of department equipment and daily patrol activities to the Shift Supervisor.
Tours facilities and grounds on foot or by patrol vehicle to make security inspections of assigned areas.
Investigates accidents that occur on campus and processes accident reports; makes arrests when required.
Testifies in court when directed; investigates complaints received against officers or security officers assigned to their shift.
Patrols inside and outside of the buildings on campus.
Maintains high visibility on campus.
Checks and monitors the security of all buildings on campus.
Performs traffic duties and maintains the flow of traffic.
Responds to calls; prepares incident reports on all pertinent situations.
Escorts members of the campus population to their desired locations and escorts monies to proper locations to deter theft, robbery, or injury to the UAMS population.
Performs other duties as assigned.
