Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Design Engineering Analysis Section Manager 2. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:
This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time.
The candidate will have 80% technical responsibilities: supporting SDS programs as an engineer within their same function. Candidate will act across multiple organizations to drive execution.
As a Functional Manager, you will be required to provide a wide range of people leadership, mentoring activities and foster a culture that allows employees to learn and grow. You will facilitate and execute the performance management cycle for your direct reports. This includes setting goals, mid and end-of-year reviews as well as performance evaluations and compensation. This role will also require you to mentor your direct reports in many ways. You will be their first line of contact for things such as career growth, training and certifications funding, stretch assignments, etc.
As a direct contributor to the support equipment team, you will be Balancing stringent quality standards for technical artifacts (e.g. Analysis Data Packages, Product Data Packages) with the rapid pace of procurement, fabrication, and construction of test assets and early prototypes.Presenting information to Program Management to make informed decisions between conflicting technical approaches based upon program and IPT-level cost, schedule, and technical impacts and risk. Championing process improvements, analysis methodologies, and testing plans that allow systems engineering, design engineering, and analysis teams to define, validate, and accept delivery of high quality products in a cost and time efficient manner. Negotiating competing priorities and interests across a wide range of internal and external stakeholder communities to pursue the best course of action for the Sentinel program. Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of distinct internal organizations, customer communities, subcontractors, and industry partners. Providing regular briefings, reports, and other communications to executive leadership.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6 years of experience
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
Experience in writing and presenting technical content
In depth familiarity with Abaqus, Ansys or Nastran
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Master’s degree (MS) in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or Professional Engineer’s License
Master’s degree in Business
In depth familiarity with the majority of the following: Ansys, Abaqus, FEMAP, Nastran, LS-DYNA, MathCad, Matlab.
Strong experience leading teams and training others.
Experience with individual contributor performance assessments
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Operates independently with limited to no supervision, and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers
Able to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans and then execute those plans
