Design Engineer

Queretaro Operations Full time

MAJOR FUNCTION  

Under general supervision, the Design Engineer applies principles and techniques of mechanical engineering and analysis in designing components, systems, and mechanical functions for floor maintenance products.  Other tasks include component selection and specifying test procedures for components and assemblies for the purpose of evaluating the suitability, performance and reliability of prototype and production models.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

•    Designs components and systems using CAD and other computer calculation tools to satisfy project objectives
•    Interacts with suppliers and operations personnel to assure components meet requirements specifications and are optimized for efficient assembly
•    Assists in defining component, system and machine test plans and interprets results
•    Performs engineering analysis as required to predict behavior of proposed designs and to resolve design issues
•    Creates and catalogs appropriate engineering documents during design timeframe
•    Provides technical support as needed to assembly lines and technical service, and may assist in troubleshooting and refinement processes
•    Interacts with Product Management and other departments to define product features, performance and project goals

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering education

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 4-8 years’ experience in mechanical engineering and design.

KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:    
•    Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering design principals
•    Strong knowledge of configuration and change control procedures 
•    Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly operation processes
•    Strong understanding of the design decisions that affect durability, customer satisfaction, product safety
•    Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks
•    Ability to work in a team environment
•    Strong oral and effective written communication skills
•    Able to interact with all functional areas and all organizational levels

COMPUTER SKILLS:
•    Proficiency in use of CREO Software
•    Proficiency in use of MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
•    Working knowledge of ERP systems, such as LN and/or SAP
•    Working knowledge of FEA software
•    Capability to learn new software
