As a Thermal Manufacturing Engineer, you will oversee, maintain, and operate multi megawatt liquid cooled production systems, and support production difficulties. The ideal candidate has experience with thermal measurement and is passionate about technology and engineering. Other duties include designing and managing facility scale HVAC systems in a production environment and collecting data from IoT sensor networks such as Temperature, Humidity, and Power.
Responsibilities
Create thermal simulation models from CAD to simulate HVAC systems for rack level, room level, and clean room performance.
Program complex fan and pump control systems using large fields of sensor inputs, setting individual thermal limits, and setting fan and pump speed hysteresis controls for smooth steady state operation.
Design, improve, and manage manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency and product quality in high density burn in rooms
Optimize liquid cooled production lines, troubleshooting equipment failures, implementing quality control standards, and designing new manufacturing systems and workstations.
Control costs for liquid production facilities.
Interpret sensor log data and analyze presenting into human readable formats but also according to various customer’s specifications using engineering principles.
Operate and configure building management systems as pertains to thermal management systems
Present test reports to customers and accept customer feedback
Perform temperature measurements using thermocouples and IoT sensors.
Collect data logs from test tools in Linux or Windows
Observe and report unexpected results or possible areas of opportunity
Regularly inspect measurement tools and repair or replace as required
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Thermal Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with strong emphasis on thermal engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience with CDUs of all types including Liquid to Liquid, Liquid to Air, and Liquid to Refrigerant.
Experience designing facility cooling plumbing systems (either chilled water or glycol based)
Must have actually built, tested and refined project designs.
Strong working knowledge of CFD and CAD software.
Experience with thermocouples, IR cameras, airflow sensors, and power measurement.
Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
Experience building personal computers or servers.
Experience with environmental chambers.
Fluency in Linux command line operation
Ability to examine customer requirements documents and build appropriate test plans for manufacturing team.
Possesses background knowledge of thermal measurement sciences.
Familiarity of test instruments such as data loggers, volt meters, and power supplies
Proficiency in building thermal models preferably in Ansys CFD products.
Works well as a team member but also independently.
Pays close attention to detail.
Communicates clearly and effectively verbally and in writing to people without an engineering background.
Demonstrates intellectual curiosity.
