Job Description:
The Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design parts and assemblies, maintain mechanical product design documentation, manage BOM structures, and support product releases to the manufacturing floor. You will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, procurement, and project teams to bring quality products to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares general arrangement, assembly, and detail drawings for new or improved products, and configures products to customer order in both AutoCAD and Solidworks
- Creates 3D models of parts, design sheet metal components, and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Prepares bills of material (BOM) and part master records in accordance with accepted procedures for all assemblies and subassemblies. Assign/issue materials, issue work orders, and release jobs.
- Create BOM from drawings, convert AutoCAD drawings to SolidWorks, and create the drawing library for all products.
- Plotting of finished drawings
- Support new product development and existing product modifications through design validation and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date design records, including bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and change notices.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to assist with design and performance issues on the floor.
- Evaluate and contribute improvements to engineering documentation systems.
- Take initiative in meeting project goals while maintaining strong attention to detail and follow-through
Knowledge & Expertise:
- Comprehensive knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including sheet metal, complex mechanical assemblies, weldments, and Excel-based design tables.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office 365
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through skills
- Self-directed work style with the ability to collaborate effectively and meet project objectives
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- 1-2 years of professional experience in engineering design with SolidWorks
- 1-2 years of professional experience with ERP System
- High mechanical aptitude and ability to read and understand dimensional drawings.
Skills/Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. This work requires sitting most of the time.
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
