About the role
We are seeking an exceptional senior leader for the role of Deputy Head of Banking Department. Reporting to the Head of Banking, this role requires deep expertise in managing complex transactions, products and senior client relationships, alongside the ability to inspire and lead high‑performing teams. You will oversee and enhance the delivery of essential banking and payments services, ensuring critical payments are delivered safely, efficiently and in the public interest. Working collaboratively across the Bank, you will provide trusted advice, drive operational excellence and ensure alignment with the Bank’s values, strategic priorities and outcomes of national significance.

About you
You are a highly motivated and inspiring senior leader with a strong commitment to serving the public interest. You bring thoughtful leadership, resilience and a personable, collaborative style, underpinned by excellent stakeholder management skills. You have a detailed understanding of the Australian banking and payments landscape, including emerging challenges such as account‑to‑account payments, and the capability to deliver high‑quality business‑as‑usual outcomes alongside complex project and change initiatives. You are experienced in leading large, multidisciplinary teams (approximately 50 staff), developing talent, and driving strong performance while operating effectively in a complex, high‑impact environment.
