What you'll do:

As Department Head of Accounting (Vice President), you will play a central role in guiding the accounting operations at MUFG’s Manila branch. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve strategic planning to meet business objectives while adapting to regulatory changes. You’ll be instrumental in revising operational systems for greater efficiency and effectiveness. Staff development is key; you’ll coach team members, assess manpower needs, and recruit new talent as necessary. Maintaining accurate books of account is essential for compliance and transparency. You’ll also manage audit processes—ensuring thoroughness—and oversee reporting obligations across multiple regulatory bodies. Collaboration is at the heart of this role; you’ll connect with internal teams as well as external agencies to achieve shared goals. Safeguarding critical documents falls under your remit too. Success in this position means consistently delivering reliable results through careful oversight, nurturing your team’s growth, and upholding MUFG’s high standards for integrity.

  • You will identify and recommend departmental strategies that align with current business needs, changes in head office policies, and evolving national or local tax regulations.
  • You will perform and implement revisions to operational systems, processes, and policies while conducting structural reviews of the department’s organisation and succession planning.
  • You will take charge of overall staff performance management by providing coaching, conducting manpower assessments, and overseeing recruitment activities.
  • You will ensure the bank’s books of accounts are maintained fairly and accurately, including proper taxation for all bank transactions.
  • You will oversee various audits such as financial audits and BIR audits to guarantee they are conducted thoroughly and correctly.
  • You will review and ensure compliance with all reports required by Head Office, BSP, BIR, and other regulatory agencies.
  • You will collaborate closely with related departments, regional offices, head office counterparts, and external regulatory agencies to achieve unit targets.
  • You will ensure proper safekeeping of important documents, articles, and negotiable instruments relevant to the department.
  • You will perform additional tasks assigned by supervising officers from time to time.

To excel as Department Head of Accounting (Vice President), you bring proven experience managing teams within complex accounting environments—ideally within banking. Your CPA qualification demonstrates your commitment to professional standards. You have spent over a decade honing your skills in leadership roles where you’ve guided teams through regulatory changes and ensured compliance with diverse accounting principles. Your familiarity with both local regulations and international standards enables you to navigate reporting requirements confidently. You are adept at using technology tools like MS Office to streamline processes.   • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is required for this role.
  • A four-year college or university degree in accounting or equivalent training forms the foundation for success.
  • At least ten years’ experience in managerial or supervisory functions within accounting or related fields—preferably in the banking industry—is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local, international, and JGAAP accounting standards ensures accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in local banking regulations including SEC, BIR, BSP, PDIC is vital for compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems and MS Office applications—especially Excel—supports efficient workflow management.
