This position is a supervisory classified position that serves as lead worker and supervisor of a crew providing custodial services of assigned Athletic facilities. Normal shift is Monday - Friday, 4:00 am - 12:30 pm.
70% Serves as lead worker over a group of custodians performing housekeeping tasks, manual labor, and other activities necessary to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and other support necessary for the efficient operation of athletic facilities. Supervises and inspects the custodial work performed by subordinates. Schedules work time, assigns cleaning duties and area of responsibility for a number of custodians. Approves or disapproves leave; set priorities for leave approval. Keeps and maintains time and attendance records; Issues cleaning supplies as needed. Keeps records relating to supply and equipment usage. Makes recommendations to management for materials and equipment. Provides orientation and on the job and in services training to new employees and student workers.
15% Reports needed building or equipment repairs to Management or appropriate maintenance personnel using established procedures. Directs the efforts of custodians washing building exteriors, window, wall fixtures, steps and sidewalks using power washers, pressure sprayers, commercial window washing equipment, ladders, scaffolds, hydraulic man-lifts or other related equipment and materials. Mixes or blends cleaning solutions. Services related equipment by checking and filling fuel tanks, solution tanks and oil reservoirs. Inspects related equipment to determine if it is safe and functional. May drive agency vehicles to transport custodial workers, or supplies and equipment.
10% Responsible for the safe keeping of keys used in the locking and unlocking of the building. Responsible for locking and unlocking of the building.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Performs any other duties necessary to maintain the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of buildings and grounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
SPECIAL OR PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Capable of moving about in a 58,000 sq. ft. building multiple times daily to clean and prepare locker rooms, office space, training rooms, spectator seating and exterior sidewalks, playing surfaces and common area. Able to stand for extended periods during cleaning processes. Must also be capable to stoop, kneel, and crouch to pick up litter, retrieve equipment, and clean restrooms, offices, lobbies, and maintain floors. Should be capable of moving furniture that weighs 20 to 40 lbs. Will use arms/hands to operate floor/power equipment used in preparing and maintaining floors. Will work with and be exposed to common cleaning products. Ability to work extended days, weekends and holidays. In accordance with University PS 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities, this position shall be subject to pre-employment physical.
