Based in California, the Structural Heart business of Abbott has a global presence with regional headquarters and manufacturing plants all over the world, representing over 5,000 employees worldwide. Our business is divided into the following product franchises: Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid Interventions (TMTI), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Structural Interventions—which consists of Stroke Risk Reduction and Congenital Heart Disease—and Cardiac Surgery.

  • The Country Manager is expected to lead and provide strategic direction for SH ISC to achieve corporate goals, by planning and organizing to drive key business imperatives.
  • Candidate will serve as the strategic leader with responsibility for creativity, innovation, people development, product marketing, distributors' management, overall sales, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, develop annual and long-term business plans and strategies consistent with global and regional strategies to position the company to optimally exploit market opportunities.
  • Manage full business P&L budget responsibility.
  • Direct all aspects of the day-to-day management of the business consistent with the goals of both revenue and profitability objectives, in accordance with the corporate objectives, strategy and plans.
  • Drive operational and functional responsibilities and accountability through the reporting leadership team, to ensure the organization achieves business objectives in compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, and consistent with company values and discipline.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners like Marketing, Finance, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, HR and also other functional organizations within Area and International Division teams, so as to best support the region
  • Foster strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and key customers in ISC to ensure long-term competitiveness and market leadership. Strong collaboration with Medical and Healthcare organizations and customers to further promote SH business interests.
  • Work closely with regional management teams in the development, presentation, and positioning of business development goals and opportunities internally and externally.
  • Manage all keys assets and financial Indicators of the Company to ensure the continuous growth and profitability of the business both in the short and long term.
  • Set KPIs, monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to build a high performing organization.
  • Anticipate capability needs and prepare talent pipelines for both short and long-term business needs. Nurture and develop high potential talent to ensure a significant pool of competent leadership at all levels of the company.
  • Create a culture and environment that fully understands and implements the principles of the Abbott mission. Foster a positive and inclusive working environment.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, life sciences, or other similar degrees. MBA or advanced degree is preferrable.
  • The candidate should have at least ten (10) years of direct sales and or marketing management experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company or preferably a medical device company. He/ She should have direct experience or strong understanding of cardiac disease products. Sales management and business development experience will be valuable.

  • Industry Understanding: The candidate must have in-depth knowledge of medical products, particularly with the cardiology business segment. Commanding a strong network within the medical industry in the ISC region will be an advantage.
  • Analytical Thinking / Problem Solving and Anticipation: Works systematically and logically to resolve problems, address opportunities, or manage the situation at hand
  • Impact and Influence: Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills to gain support and alignment of cross-functional resources and ability to develop sustainable relationships.
  • Decision Making: Demonstrate belief in own abilities, and the willingness to exercise one's own judgement, especially under challenging circumstances and multiple priorities,
  • Excellent communication and written skills in English, ability to communicate effectively with regional and global stakeholders.
