Who We Are
The Office of the Commandant (OOC) serves and supports departments within the Corps of Cadets that are critically engaged in all aspects of student development and the delivery of key services and support. OOC departments work to create environments that help students grow, develop, learn, and enhance their experience at Texas A&M by providing leadership opportunities, experiential education, and connections beyond the classroom. This position will be part of a centralized team that supports the active recruiting efforts of future cadets and their families to Texas A&M and the Corps of Cadets.
What We Want
The Operations Coordinator fosters leadership development in the Corps of Cadets by providing presence and oversight at various Corps/Unit activities, facilities and services. Observes and evaluates cadet performance in dormitories, on the Quad, and in Cadet facilities. Assists in planning, execution and oversight of cadet formations, dormitories, dining, training, and various off-quad locations. Assists in Cadet leadership selection process. Assist Cadets in planning, executing, and improving activities and leadership development opportunities in line with University and organizational standards and policies. Oversees assigned residence halls, room assignments and room changes. Ensures compliance with housing policies, university policies and The Corps Standards through routine hall inspections, monitoring of Cadet behavior and investigation/follow-up with Cadets. Responds to and coordinates actions during emergencies in the Corps residence halls. Monitors Cadet compliance with University and Corps rules and regulations and makes recommendations and corrections for development.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to work independently with personal time management and schedule management.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail, confidentiality, dependability.
Ability to follow-through with administrative tasks in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Corps of Cadets knowledge.
4 years military experience.
Responsibilities
Department Duties/Operations
Assists the Office of the Commandant with the oversight of daily operations, facilities, services, and activities which contribute to the mission of the Corps of Cadets, the learning environment and overall quality of cadet life. Serves as a positive role model for Cadets. Conducts periodic dorm room, uniform, and Military Proficiency inspections of cadets to ensure compliance with The Standard. Observe and evaluate cadet performance; assists in Cadet leadership selection process. Guide and mentor Cadets though the Corps Leadership Development Model. Monitors Cadet compliance with University and Corps rules and regulations and makes recommendations and corrections for development.
Program Management
Provides oversight at the Unit and Corps level to include planning, executing, and overseeing Corps’ and University signature programs and activities. Mentors and advises selected student organizations. Promotes leadership development through planning, executing, and improving Corps’ events.
Standards and Accountability
Monitors Cadet compliance with University and Corps rules and regulations and makes recommendations and corrections for development. Responds to and coordinates actions during contingencies.\
Commandant Duty Officer
Serves as the primary coordination for all Commandant’s Duty Officer (CDO) in all matters dealing with an on-campus population of approximately 2400 cadets in the absence of the staff, normally during off-duty hours. Communicates with students, staff, and emergency response groups as needed. Provides presence during peak times such as orientation weeks, residence hall opening, closing and certain holidays or as determined by the Commandant. Carries CDO cell phone 24/7 to be available during crisis responses and emergency. Attends training with campus staff to ensure appropriate risk management process, procedures and protocols are followed in line with Residence Life, Division of Student Affairs and University policies.
Administrative Requirements
Develop, maintain and improve administrative processes and procedures to support current and future Corps’ operations.
Campus and Community Stakeholders
Assist in maintaining positive working relationships with office stakeholders, providing information when appropriate, responding promptly to appropriate requests for assistance, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
