Job Description

The Corporate Development team is seeking a Corporate Development (M&A) Sr. Analyst to join their growing team. The Corporate Development team is at the heart of U.S. Bank’s growth strategy, partnering with business lines across the enterprise to deliver strategic insights and financial expertise that drive transformative initiatives. From acquisitions and divestitures to equity investments and partnerships, we play a critical role in shaping the organization’s long-term success.

Beyond transactions, we lead valuation projects that support regulatory and strategic priorities, including CCAR, Resolution Planning, and Goodwill Impairment reviews—ensuring U.S. Bank remains strong, agile, and future-ready.

As a Corporate Development (M&A) Senior Analyst, you’ll be a key contributor in evaluating high-impact opportunities, conducting competitive market analyses, and supporting complex valuation projects. This role offers direct exposure to senior leadership and the chance to influence decisions that define our enterprise strategy.

Reporting directly to the Head of Corporate Development, you’ll join a dynamic team where your insights matter and your work drives meaningful change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Corporate Development team and business lines in creating financial forecasts and valuation analyses for strategic initiatives
  • Prepare internal presentations outlining the transaction opportunity, strategic rationale, key considerations and financial impact
  • Assist with the due diligence process, including validating financial assumptions and identifying key risks and opportunities
  • Prepare market analyses to identify attractive expansion opportunities for U.S. Bancorp and perform competitive market analyses by researching market trends, competitive landscape and best practices
  • Perform initial intangible allocation analysis and partner with business lines in their annual impairment review of intangibles and goodwill
  • Assist with special projects undertaken by the Corporate Development department as required

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel financial modeling skills
  • 4+ years financial analysis experience, preferably with financial services firm, corporate mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, private equity or venture capital
  • Proficient Microsoft PowerPoint skills
  • Well-developed mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating acquisition opportunities, business initiatives and other valuation related projects
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited direction
  • Proven ability to operate with discretion and protect highly confidential information

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $105,400.00 - $124,000.00
