Marketing & Corporate Affairs (MCA) delivers an integrated approach to marketing, communications, sustainability, community investment and social impact across CommBank. 

The Technology Corporate Affairs team plays a critical role in protecting and enhancing CommBank’s reputation and positioning the Group as a leader in Technology and AI. 

Do work that matters 

This Executive Manager role is accountable for employee communications and engagement across CommBank’s 12,500 Technology employees. Partnering closely with the Office of the CIO and Technology Leadership Team, you will communicate strategy, demonstrate progress, build culture, and support attraction and retention of technology talent. 

Reporting to the General Manager, Technology Corporate Affairs, you will operate as a trusted Corporate Affairs Business Partner to the Technology function. This is a people leadership role requiring enterprise-wide strategic judgement and a willingness to be hands-on in delivery. 

Success in this role requires a self-starter who exercises strong judgement, is comfortable with ambiguity and complexity, and takes end-to-end ownership of outcomes. 

What you’ll do 

Set direction and drive outcomes 

  • Lead the employee communications and engagement strategy for Technology, aligned to the Group Strategy and our ambition to be a Leader in Technology and AI. 

  • Translate strategy into clear, compelling communications that help employees understand priorities, progress and impact. 

  • Deliver disciplined, well-governed communications that build trust and momentum. 

Partner and influence at executive level 

  • Act as a trusted adviser to the Group CIO and Technology Leadership Team, providing pragmatic, audience-led counsel. 

  • Build strong enterprise relationships to drive alignment and cut-through. 

  • Influence outcomes without authority, balancing competing priorities with sound judgement. 

Lead with judgement and rigour 

  • Design and deliver leader-led, change and culture communications for a large, diverse Technology workforce. 

  • Simplify complex technology initiatives through clear storytelling. 

  • Maintain strong governance, risk management and attention to detail across all activity. 

  • Identify and manage reputational risks, escalating where appropriate. 

Build capability and lead others 

  • Embed AI-enabled tools, data and insights into planning, delivery and measurement. 

  • Set and track KPIs to continuously improve impact. 

  • Lead and develop one direct report, role modelling accountability, strong risk culture and the CommBank Code of Conduct. 

What we’re looking for 

  • Senior or Executive Manager-level experience in corporate or employee communications within a large, complex organisation. 

  • Proven track record delivering large-scale engagement, culture and change communications programs, ideally within technology or transformation environments. 

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic counsel to senior leaders, influence without authority and challenge constructively. 

  • Experience managing corporate or reputational issues in a listed, regulated or complex environment. 

  • Strong judgement, prioritisation and follow-through, with comfort operating in ambiguity. 

  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and storytelling capability, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Strong business acumen and a data-led mindset, including use of AI-enabled tools to improve impact.
