The Content & Data Analyst is an integral part of Capital Group’s content team. This role involves supporting the creation of innovative and tailored investment content for an audience of financial advisors and institutional clients. Responsibilities include researching and providing content for key programs such as insight articles, white papers, presentations and others various sales literature. A significant portion of the work involves creating charts and other data visualizations. Additionally, the analyst collaborates with the creative team to brainstorm ideas for thought leadership-driven marketing campaigns, webinars, and other publications as part of the ongoing content publishing program. 

Role Description: Primary responsibilities/essential functions: 

  • Independently handles standardized and recurring content assignments, under direct supervision of more senior team members on complex projects, analyses, and tasks aimed at publishing outward-facing content. 

  • Supports the writers by conducting research to develop investment insights content for various audiences. 

  • Partners with writers to identify research needs, execute research, and present findings to writers and other creative groups. This role not only provides support but also fosters story and content ideas through trusted recommendations. 

  • Proactively identifies and explores additional research gaps or emerging trends. 

  • Conducts research on statistical, economic, product, asset class, anecdotal, and other relevant information to support creative and content development, utilizing a range of internal and external sources and leveraging existing research. 

  • Summarizes and presents research findings, synthesizing input from sources and delivering findings to writers in an appropriate format. 

  • Provides data to designers for the creation of charts and graphs and consults with them through to final publication, ensuring the design team creates award-winning charts. 

  • Collaborates with the statistical results group to ensure data accuracy. 

  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned. 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of how data can be presented to deliver an insight and tell a story. 

  • Intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity. 

  • Ability to identify, assess, respond to and escalate risks or potential risks encountered through day-to-day activities. 

  • Effective collaboration and written and oral communication skills with team members and managers. 

  • Effective and professional service orientation and builds appropriate rapport with internal and external contacts. 

  • Working knowledge of macroeconomic and investment data analysis and ability to apply it to work assignments. 

  • Displays a passion for research and analyzing investment data using industry software. 

  • A subject matter expert in Excel who enjoys understanding and manipulating data, charts and tables. 

  • Enjoys brainstorming and solving problems, as well as pitching ideas in a creative environment. 

 

Core requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on economics, finance, statistics, applied mathematics or a related field. 

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in data research and analysis related to within the financial services or economics. 

  • Strong functional knowledge of the investment industry, including fixed income and equities. 

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.

  • Experience using financial tools such as Morningstar, FactSet or Bloomberg is preferred. 

  • Experience building financial models using such software as Python is a plus.   

  • Advanced Certification a plus (Ex CFP)

Los Angeles Base Salary Range: $96,918-$155,069

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
