General Summary

This position is responsible for overall estimating & construction efficiency and effectiveness in the Operating Group. The Group CM will work with the Regional Construction Managers & Chief Estimators and appropriate field supervision to maximize profitability while ensuring proper standards are followed including accurate estimating, costing and forecasting.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Partner with the Regional/Area Managers and Construction Managers to establish core estimating and construction competencies within the Region/Area to ensure operational efficiency standards are met.

  • Assist with overall staffing and development of construction and estimating personnel within the group to optimize overall Granite resource deployment.

  • Interface with the group’s construction personnel to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with designs, budgets and schedules to provide maximum quality, safety and profitability including working with third parties, client representatives, A/E representatives, subcontractors and materials providers.

  • Provide proper training and education to key construction personnel on new tools, policies & procedures related to estimating, construction, scheduling etc. (i.e. HCSS, FIS, P6) 

  • Demonstrate through regular involvement and leadership Granite’s commitment to create a total safety culture in all areas of our business.  

  • Advocate and utilize Company set standards and tool box to ensure consistency and best practices are used.

  • Ensure all company, client and project interactions, procedures and standards adhere to Granite’s core values.

  • Use production and financial reports available to influence, facilitate and hold accountable performance standards of the regional construction personnel.  Maintain project information and documentation to track project status.  (POC, Project Forecasts, Daily/Weekly cost reporting etc.) 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.


Work Experience

  • Minimum of fifteen (15)  years experience of successfully bidding, building & leading various construction operational components of similar teams.


Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspect of heavy civil construction (technology, equipment, methods), company policies, procedures and standards; and union jurisdiction, labor agreements, negotiations essential.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills required.

  • Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), estimating and forecasting software.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is expected to travel and be physically present at work locations (regional offices and jobsites as well as attend corporate functions).  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.

Base Salary Range: 

$197,986.00 - $296,978.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
