JOB SUMMARY

Job Profile Summary

The Commercial Business Analyst role supports the crude commercial organization through analytical support, operational execution, and commercial evaluation. There are potentially multiple open positions, including within the Scheduling, Optimization or Commercial Development teams. The exact title (Analyst I-III) and role will be determined based on the individual candidate’s skillset and applicable work experience, if any. Dependent on the role, the Analyst will support day-to-day crude scheduling activities, develop and maintain analytical tools and reporting, support crude quality and value optimization, and/or help evaluate new commercial opportunities.

This role may also be structured as a rotational position, providing exposure across multiple teams and workstreams within the crude commercial organization.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintain data analytic tools to support commercial activities, including building dashboards, automating recurring reports, and improving data accessibility and quality.

  • Evaluate new commercial opportunities and ad-hoc initiatives by gathering information, performing quantitative analyses, summarizing economics, and preparing materials for decision-making.

  • Support crude scheduling execution, including assisting with daily/weekly/monthly planning activities, tracking movements, monitoring constraints, and helping ensure alignment between plans and actuals.

  • Support crude quality optimization efforts by analyzing crude assays/quality attributes, monitoring blend performance, and helping identify opportunities to improve netbacks and operational outcomes.

  • Manage volume forecasting efforts, including compiling inputs from internal stakeholders and summarizing impacts to FP&A and commercial teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, business or a related field.

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply).

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to organize data, identify trends, and communicate insights clearly.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint; ability to learn and use additional analytical tools (e.g., Power BI) and new systems quickly.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and a willingness to learn through hands-on work.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
