Organization & Team Overview

Comcast AI Technologies team is an innovative research group within Comcast’s Technology & Product organization with offices in Washington DC and Philadelphia. We do groundbreaking research to support the development of novel Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning based products for Comcast’s millions of consumers.

Role Description

Are you interested in large-scale machine learning and deep learning? Do you want to create new entertainment experiences by analyzing huge multimedia content libraries and thousands of live TV channels? If these difficult research problems excite you and you have experience in at least one or more of the following areas – Deep Learning, Multimodal Understanding, Computer Vision (including object detection, image classification, activity recognition, and more), Large Language/Multimodal Models, Speech recognition and synthesis, and Audio Analysis – we are looking for you!  

As an intern within our AI Technologies organization, you will perform research on a project area to further our business objectives. Our work focuses on the analysis of multimedia (audio/video) content, and projects primarily involve the following domain areas:

  • Object detection, activity recognition, optical character recognition, tagging, etc. in video

  • Natural language processing for topic extraction, summarization, and more

  • Speech recognition and/or Text-to-speech, Diffusion Models

  • Deep learning for annotation, segmentation, and recognition of video and any other multimedia content

  • Multi-modal detection of semantically meaningful events in video, such as emotion

  • Applying Large Language Models (LLMs) and Foundation Models (FMs) to multimodal analysis tasks

  • Machine learning optimization and pipeline development

The expected output of an internship is a proof-of-concept implementation leading to both impactful production-level deployments and a scientific publication and/or a patent application. 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform preliminary research given a problem statement to understand the state of the art

  • Adapt and execute open-source models for use within our processing framework

  • Prototype improvements or extensions to existing models and software based on research conclusions

  • Produce high quality, well-documented code

  • Summarize work effectively and provide periodic updates on progress to leadership and teammates

  • Conduct research tasks independently after receiving guidance and direction from leadership

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Skills

  • Enrolled in a university PhD program (strong MSc students are also welcome to apply), with 2+ years research experience in Machine Learning with a multimodal analysis (text, image, audio, etc.) focus 

  • Good programming and software development skills

  • Comfortable working in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented, applied research environment. 

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in a relevant field at a U.S.-based college or university, with a strong academic record.  

  • Rising second year Master’s or PhD student preferred (graduating Winter 2026–Spring 2028).  

  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2026 semester before graduating)   

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program starting June 1, 2026, through August 14, 2026

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Compensation

Base Pay: $17.95
