Starting Wage: $18.00 per hour - Additional pay is earned for Weekly Attendance. Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Schedule. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday apx 5am to 4pm 

May include some holidays and weekends as needed. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Requirements: Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months. Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.

Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the preparation and operation of the Embrex equipment for the innovoject process and the transfer of eggs from the setters to the hatchers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setup and prepare Embrex equipment for the day; transfer eggs to Embrex machine for vaccination and check for rotten/broken eggs; prepare hatchers for eggs; dispense formaldehyde. (70%)
  • Clean and sanitize racks, flats, buggies, the Embrex machine, and the Embrex room; fog hatchery; (20%)

Other duties, responsibilities, and activities:

  • These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice such as:  Operate a high pressure and regular water hose; maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers; paint; set eggs; and maintain a clean an organized work area. (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

  • The job site is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Physical:  Must use safe lifting techniques. Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 500-1000 lbs. Overhead lifting is required. Required to work on wet and slippery surfaces each day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Tools and Equipment: Must be proficient in the operation of the Embrex machine.
  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof aprons, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs and earmuffs will be used as needed.
  • Chemical Commonly Used: Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, lubricants and virocid.
  • Safety:  Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
  • Mask policy will be in accordance with any local, state, or federal requirements but will be provided to any Team Member wishing to wear a mask.
